recycled silk dilema

I bought 3 skeins of recycled silk to play with and it is beautiful, but I had a hard time trying to figure out what to make with it. After starting several things I decided to just do a simple garter stitch scarf and maybe a hat. The yarn is so different going from fine to bulky within a few stitches and even varying in texture for each different skein that I thought it would shoe the rawness of the yarn. That stuff smells like a barn and it even has straw and the occasional clump of dirt, I can't wait ot finish so I can wash the stuff.
